HP ML 110 + Adaptec AAR 2420SA vs. Ubuntu 6.10 Server

A HP ML 110 a legkisebb HP "szerver". Igazából a munkaállomás kategóriát is alulról súroló gép (!Xeon processzorral), de legalább "egyben" van. A benne levő alaplapi HostRAID egy vicc (a nevében benne van, hogy a Host végzi a RAID funkciókat, azaz a gép erőforrásait használja). Kell a halálnak. A gép Ubuntu Server-t fog futtatni, így tettem bele egy 4 portos Adaptec AAR 2420SA-t. Az ára olyan 300 dollár körül van, igazi hw SATA RAID, akkuval védhető write cache-sel szerelhető, a Linux kernel élből ismeri (de FreeBSD 5.x és a 6.x is).

Ubuntu 6.10 Server csont nélkül települt rá. Igazából a fő alkatrészeket élből támogatta.

'Please, just tell people to use Windows.' - Linus Torvalds on KDE and GNOME

Humm, stabilnak látszik. Négy napja megy rajta egyfolytában a Linux kernel forrásfáján a következő:

while true; do make mrproper; make allyesconfig; make -j 2; sleep 200; done;

(teljes törlés, minden config "yes"-re, teljes kernel lepörgetése két szálon, pihi; vissza az elejére)
