Ize, akkor most a beta allapotu anyagok (UDF write support, LVM2) be fognak kerulni a 2.5.x-be, vagy mar eppen nem?

Hmmm... engem egy dolog érdekelne igazán...

Mikor lesz ebből valami stabil dolog...?

Szal, még meddig fut (előreláthatólag) a 2.4.x, és mikor lép a helyére a következő...?

Guillaume levelében megkérte a fejlesztőket, hogy nyilatkozzanak, mondják meg a frankót, hogy mi lesz kész. Kérte, hogy szóljanak mit lehet kihúzni a listáról, és tegnap este 10-ig már szép számmal írtak is vissza, javították a listát.

Hát ez még elég képlékeny dolog. A feature freeze után már új dolog nem kerül be a kernelbe. Elkezdődnek a széles körű tesztek, bugreportolások ideje. Erre Linus fel is kért mindenkit. Aztán jönnek a -pre kernelek.

Ha az előző fejlesztési ciklust megnézzük akko az alábbiakat látjuk:

Az első teszt 2.4 kernel a patch-2.4.0-test1.bz2 (ha jól emlékszem) és 2000. május. 25-én jelent meg.

Az utolsó "teszt" kernel a prerelease-to-final.gz volt, amely 2001. január. 4-én jelent meg.

Ez egy ~8 hónapos tesztelési ciklus volt. Akkor nézzük így:

A feature freeze Halloween napja, azaz október vége (vagy november eleje?). Utána akár napokon belül megjelenhet az első teszt kernel. Ha hozzáadunk még 8 hónapot, akkor 2003. júniusban várható. ;)

Persze ez csak feltételezés...

Az biztos, hogy várni kell vele majd éles rendszeren, de szerintem azért olyan sokat nem. Csak a 2.4 -es sorozat indult olyan balszerencsésen, remélem ez nem fog. Viszont hoz(hat) olyan változásokat, melyek kedvezően befolyásolhatják egy szerver működését. Majd meglássuk, remélem... :)
