Frissítés után ékezet nélküli furcsa fontok a böngészőkben

Szombat esti upgrade után (melyben ha jól láttam, font frissítések is voltak) a Firefox-ban és a Konqueror-ban is az Origo, az Index és a HUP több része (de más oldalak is) ékezet nélküli, s igen furcsa fontokkal mutatkoznak. A frissítés előtt mindegyik jól működött. A böngészők semmiféle új - általam ismert - beállítása nem használ. A rendszer Debian etch i386.

A szombati frissítést úgy értettem, hogy amikor én szombat este upgrade-ltem ...

Tehát, az alap locale en_US.UTF-8 volt (en_US-t valamiért jobban szeretem ...), de az upgrade lefuttatása után a locale változtatása nélkül a már vázolt helyzet állt elő. Azóta jó néhány locale beállítást kipróbáltam (en_US.ISO-8859-1, en_US.ISO-8859-2, hu_HU.ISO-8859-2), de azokkal sem jó. Most LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-1.

en_US.UTF-8-at visszaállítottam, változás egyenlőre nincs.

fontconfig sucks, utálom, tömény szívás és bughalmaz az egész. Ráadásul a 2.4 release előtti utolsó pillanatokban a Deja Vu preferálását lecserélték a Bitstream Vera preferálására ha jól tudom, mondván hogy a DV-ben szar pár kerning, bezzeg hogy a BV meg csak latin1-et támogat, az nem volt ellenérv. Nézz körül a konfig fájljában például. Mindemellett a cache is inkompatibilis formátumú, nem árthat törölni.

nálam, igaz sid alatt, komplett szövegek tűntek el, se webet se kopete-t nem tudtam elolvasni. A legfrisebb nvidia driver megoldotta a gondot. Lehet semmi köze a problémádhoz, de hátha... :)

Az nVidia drivert végül is nem sikerült installálnom, de a font probléma enélkül is majdnem teljesen megoldódott. Installáltam az MS fontokat is (msttcorefonts csomag), s így a Firefox-ban már majdnem minden oldal jól néz ki (a stílusfájlokban definiált fontokkal), egyedül az Origo Fórum oldalánál kell egy kis szövegnagyítást alkalmazni. Némi gond van még a gv és társai PS nézegetőkkel, ezek nem azokkal a fontokkal mutatják a LaTeX--->PS dokumentumot, ahogyan a printerből kijön (ott jó), de majd csak helyrerázódik ez is.
