Az Oracle részéről Frank Mehnert bejelentette a VirtualBox 4.2 Beta 1 fejlesztői kiadását. Letölthető innen.

Főbb változások:

  • Improved Windows 8 support, in particular many 3D-related fixes
  • GUI: VM groups
  • GUI: expert mode for wizards
  • GUI: allow to alter some settings during runtime
  • Support for up to 36 network cards, in combination with an ICH9 chipset configuration (bug #8805)
  • Resource control: added support for limiting network IO bandwidth.
  • Added possibility to start VMs during system boot on Linux, OS X and Solaris; see the manual for more information
  • Added experimental support for Drag'n'drop from the host to Linux guests. Support for more guests and for guest-to-host is planned.

A Player-rel is lehet létrehozni gépet vagy csak meglévő gépet (Appliance vagy minek hívják) tudsz futtatni? Mert amikor én néztem, csak meglévő gépet tudott használni, vele nem lehetett gépet létrehozni, ezért váltottam Virtualbox-ra.

Régen volt, amikor nem tudott. Majdnem mindent tud, amit a Workstation. Amit nem tud (és amit a Workstation tud):

- snapshot
- felvétel / lejátszás
- MS Visual Studio / Eclipse / SpringSource integráció
- Remote replay debugging
- Allows definition of properties of the virtual networks within VM teams
- Virtual disk encryption
- Remote VMs
- HD audio

Plusz még annyi limitációja van, hogy "csak" 32 GB lehet a / VM max. memória, ellenben a Workstation-nel, ahol ez 64 GB.
