Világhírü lettem. (komolyan)

Még 2004 novemberében kiszámoltam/megtippeltem, hogy mikor lesz 1millió cikk a wikipédiában. napra pontosan sikerült:)
slashdot cikk:
At 23:09 UTC, the one-millionth article was created in the English-language Wikipedia. The milestone was reached with the creation of an article about Jordanhill railway station in Scotland. Congratulations to all the Wikipedians, especially Nach0king who wrote the millionth article and Mészáros András who in November 2004 correctly predicted that it would be created today.

Az IBM beidéztette az M$-t a SCO ügy tárgyalására

This is your daily IT Lawsuit News Feeder. Groklaw reports that IBM has subpoenad Microsoft in its enduring legal battle with SCO. IBM is demanding Microsoft delivers all communications between Microsoft and SCO, since June 28th 2002, including conversations Darl McBride may have had with Steve Ballmer. But no worries, that ain't all! IBM, Red Hat, Sun, and Real have filed a complaint with the European Commission because Microsoft unfairly scotches competition. A világ legnagyobb windowsos hibaüzenete

Times Square has seen the largest Windows error message ever. One of the many machines controlling one of the many electronic billboards crashed, displaying a large DirectX error message. The billboard is two stories high. Adam Gaffin happened to be at Times Square and took some pictures of the world's largest error message.

Érti az Oracle, mit is vásárolt?

Open Source has become significant enough - as either threat or opportunity - for Oracle to throw about half a Billion into a buying spree of Open Source companies. Do they understand what they've bought? Two of the acquisitions are designed to discomfit MySQL, but MySQL will have no trouble side-stepping Oracle's maneuvering. And Oracle may soon find: you can't really buy an Open Source project. Open Source leader Bruce Perens presents a strategic analysis of Oracle's purchases and their effect on MySQL:Does Oracle Understand What It's Buying?

By Kim Tae-gyu
Staff Reporter

The Korean government plans to select a city and a university late next month where open-source software like Linux will become the mainstream operating programs.

The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) Wednesday revealed the scheme of building up the city and university, which will operate as test beds for the open-source programs.

``We will start to receive applications next week. After screening candidate cities and universities, the test beds are likely to be decided by late March,’’ MIC director Lee Do-kyu said.

Lee said that the project will be kick-started just after the decision of the city and university, toward which end the ministry earmarked 4.1 billion won for this year alone.
