fiesty "gyári" kernel update

Nos, a mai hivatalos frissítés (számomra) sok problémát megoldott.
Az egész azzal kezdődött (valahol réges-rég, egy messzi messzi galaxisban...), hogy frissítettem edgy-ről fiesty-re. A probléma az volt, hogy a gyári kernel (nekem) nem működött.
Define "nem működött" = egyszerűen nem bootolt be, bármit is csináltam vele.
Gondoltam ez egy valami chipset driver probléma, vagy pedig a videókártyámhoz lesz köze (nVidia 7600 GS), mivel ha feltettem a drivert bebootolt - egyszer. Egyszer, mert legközelebb megint nem. Ha leszedtem ugyanez volt, egyszer bootolt, majd megint nem. Viszont a bökkenő az, hogy bebootoltam a régi kernelről, majd valamilyen ötlettől vezérelve, feltettem a 386-os kernelt. Láss csodát, működött. (2.6.20-15-ös kernelről van szó).
Ámde ma adept szólt, hogy frissítés van. Látom, hogy megjött az újabb kernelcsomag (2.6.20-16). Feltettem mindkettőt (386 és generic) és azóta szépen működik a generic is.

Saját kernelt nem akartam forgatni, nincs rá szükségem, jobban szeretem a "gyári" kernelt. Gondoltam hátha a következő kernelben javítva lesz a bug, és mint kiderült javítva is lett. (egyébként a bugot reportoltam).
Nos ennyi, tulajdonképpen ezt csak érdekességképpen írtam le, kíváncsi vagyok, hogy ki futott még ebbe a problémáma bele.

Nekem csak egyszerűen a disk-kezelése szörnyű.
Valahogy így néz ki a gépem:
hda,hdb: cd/dvd rw
hdc,hdd: vinyó
+ egyéb sdX-ek

Az ubuntu a hdd-n, vagyis a 2. vinyón van (1. part.), de boot-kor grubnak azt kell megadni, hogy hd(0,0), különben nem indul.
Persze lehet hogy én vagyok a hülye, de sztem az első diszknek (hdc) kellene a hd(0,X)-nek lennie, a második pedig a hd(1,X).

Ami így comment-írás közben eszembe jutott, hogy lehet, hogy felcseréli a grub a két lemezt, ugyanis HDD-1 ről bútol a BIOS, és így relative nézve tényleg az a 0. lemez. Na mind1, szóval előfordul ilyen is:)

nálam is megoldotta a random kernel panic-okat az amil a7640-emen :)
eddig voltak tákolt kerneleim, amikkel valahogy nem akart együttműkdni teljesen a gnome-power-manager sem, most legalább megy minden szépen :)

No, nekem is megcsinálta a legutsó frissítést és az Nvidia karim most nem akar elindúlni sem a jelenlegi 2.6.20-16 se a régebbi kernelekkel: az alábbi hibával száll el:
(Ezek után leszedtem a gyári nvidiás cuccokat majd vissza, de ugyanaz a helyzet...) van ötletetek ?

Sziasztok.
No sajna a fent említett frissítés óta még mindíg nem tudom beröffenteni az Nvidiát.

A 2.6.20-15 tök jó.
A 2.6.20-16 frissítés viszont az alábbi üzivel elszál.

Az apt-ben nincsenek nem hivatalos források. Nem hajtok túl...stb. és az ubuntus Nvidia drivert használtam eddig. Póbáltam feltenni a gyári Nvidia...run csomagot az igényelt kernel source csomagot nem leltem így nem is ment.
Mellékesen hadd kérdezem meg, hogy mit jelent a bootoláskor felajánlot

Hát én egy 2.6.21-re váltásnak jobban örültem volna, mert van benne egy-két hasznos új funkció. Nem tud valaki valamilyen 2.6.21-es kernel backport-ről feisty-hez? Saját kézzel nem akarok kernelt csinálni, macerás, sok funkció nem is megy vele elsőre, meg külön kellene hozzá gyártani egyéb 3rd party drivereket is. Esetleg a gutsy 2.6.22-es kerneleit mennyire egyszerű/veszélyes/melós beizzítani feisty alatt, csinált már valaki ilyet?

én jtásztottam a 2.6.22-es kernelekkel. hát néhány dolog még hiányzott, ami kellett volna normális ubuntu-s integrációhoz. pedig a gutsy-s kernel source tar.gz-jét használtam. acpi-t valahogy nem sikerült soha normálisra belőni, meg utolsó próbálkozásra nem is bootolt.
backportolva a 2.6.21 meg tuti nem lesz, mert a backports csapat nem foglalkozik core csomagokkal.
