Here are the informal plans for the actual 3.0.0 release:

We, the Samba Team, hope that this will be the final RC before

the real 3.0.0 release. Unless there is a severe bug in the Samba

source that would affect a large number of the community, the

source/ directory in RC3 will stay the same for 3.0.0. The docs/

directory has not changed between RC2 and RC3. However, there are

a lot of documentation updates to be merged before 3.0.0. This

will be handled later this week.

If all goes as planned, 3.0.0 will be released the first of next

week. We're intentionally being vague to leave the possibility of

the release as next Monday or Tuesday.

The Samba Team is proud to announce the availability of the

third release candidate of the Samba 3.0.0 code base. A release

candidate implies that the code is very close to a final release,

but remember that this is still a non-production snapshot intended

for testing purposes. Use it at your own risk.

The major issues addressed in this release candidate are

1) Compatibility and compile fixes with Heimdal Kerberos.

2) Disconnection issues in winbindd after prolonged idle

periods.

3) More fixes for transitive trusts when acting as a member

of an ADS domain.

4) Performance optimizations when using ASCII character sets.

A Burgner projekt célja, hogy egy teljesen szabadon felhasználható CD-író eszközt adjon a felhasználói kezébe. Hogy mitől másabb, mint a többi N+1 CD-író program?
Attól, hogy a kódja teljesen 0-ról (from scratch) lett megírva, nem tartalmaz kódot a cdrtools (cdrecord és mkisofs) projektből, sem a cdrdao-ból, és nem is frontend-je ezen programoknak.A egész objektum-orientált progamozással készült (a glib GObject felhasználásával), az egész C nyelven íródott, és emelett GNU GPL licencel rendelkezik. Jelenleg Rockridge és Eltorito típusú CD imageket képes készíteni, és audio/data, és CD-EXTRA típusú CD-ket képes égetni..

Az egész aszinkron és esemény-orientált API-val rendelkezik, így könnyen használható a GTK+/GNOME alkalmazások által.

Aki nem tudja, a Sylpheed egy pici, gyors, GTK+ alapú levelező- és hírolvasó program. Természetesen tud POP3-at, IMAP-ot, küldéshez SMTP-t használ, vagy meghív külső programot. SSL-t és PGP-t (GPG-t) támogat, ismeri az X-Face formátumot, stb. Július 4-én megjelent új verziója újabb hibajavításokkal, és majdnem 100%-os magyarítással, amely a Magyar BSD Egyesület honosító csoportjának segítségével készült.

Megjelent az Opera böngésző Symbian OS-re, így már a Nokia 7650 és 3650 tulajdonosai is tudják használni készülékeiken.

Kiadták a Mailman 2.1.2-es verzióját. A főbb újdonságai közé tartozik ennek a verziónak, hogy végre rendesen kezeli a magyar levelezést. (A fejléc / lábléc kezeléssel voltak komoly gondok az előző verziókban.)2.1.2 (22-Apr-2003)

- New languages Portuguese (Portugal) and Polish.

- Many convenient constants have been added to the Defaults.py

module to (hopefully) make it more readable.

- Email addresses which contain 8-bit characters in them are now

rejected and won't be subscribed. This is not the same as 8-bit

characters in the realname, which is still allowed.

- The X-Originating-Email header is removed for anonymous lists.

Hotmail apparently adds this header.

- When running make to build Mailman, you can specify $DESTDIR to

the install target to specify an alternative location for

installation, without influencing the paths stored in

e.g. Defaults.py. This is useful to package managers.

- New Defaults.py variable DELIVERY_RETRY_WAIT which controls how

long the outgoing qrunner will wait before it retries a

tempfailure delivery.

- The semantics for the extend.py hook to MailList objects has

changed slightly. The hook is now called before attempting to

lock and load the database.

- Mailman now uses the email package version 2.5.1

- bin/transcheck now checks for double-%'s

- bin/genaliases grew a -q / --quiet flag

- cron/checkdbs grew a -h / --help option.

- The -c / --change-msg option has been removed from bin/add_members

- bin/msgfmt.py has been added, taken from Python 2.3's Tools/i18n

directory. The various .mo files are now no longer distributed

with Mailman. They are generated at build time instead.

- A new file misc/sitelist.cfg which can be used with

bin/config_list provides a small number of recommended settings

for your site list. Be sure to read it over before applying!

sitelist.cfg is installed into the data directory.

A terminal.hu oldalon olvasható egy igen szórakoztató vaklárma storry az opera böngészöben felfedezett "problémáról".A fenti véletlen tökéletesen bizonyítja, hogy egy szabad szoftver esetében a cikk írójának elég lett volna egy levelet postáznia pl. a mozilla (ha már böngészőről van szó) fejlesztői levlistájára és egy kegyetlen égéstől kímélte volna meg magát. Valamint az is elgondolkodtató az opera felhasználók számára, hogy érdemes e egy kereskedelemi sw zárt kódjában a továbbiakban megbízniuk?


Mindenesetre az köztudott, hogy az opera esetében egy megfelelő tűzfal szabályozással blokkólhatóak a kéretlen bannerek. Valamint az is köztudott, hogy aki nem akar reklámot nézni, az pl az új mozillában popup tiltást is be tud kapcsolni :)
