Tehát:
1. letölt, kicsomagol
2. make ...config
3. make

make install kell?
make modules_install kell?

Jelenleg a kernelt a következő grub rész indítja:
title UHU-Linux
kernel (hd2,1)/boot/bzImage root=/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part2
initrd (hd2,1)/boot/initrd

Ez alapján mehet az új kernel, ha annak a nevével helyettesítem a régit az új indító részben? pl:
title UHU-Linux-2-6-4
kernel (hd2,1)/boot/vmlinuz264 root=/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/part2
initrd (hd2,1)/boot/initrd

Nagyon jó anyagok vannak, amik alapján tudsz kernelt fordítani:
érdemes keresni a tldp.fsf.hu-n a kernel howtot, itt a hup fórumaiban,
meg a www.linuxforum.hu oldalon, valamint a fellow.uw.hu
is sok okosság van :)

de röviden:

1, kernel.org, kernel leszed.
2, kicsomi (általában) az /usr/src/ könyvtárba
3, az /usr/src be linux link készítése a kernel könyvtárára
(4,) ha kell, akkor megpeccs! ...segítség...
5, make menuconfig
6, config mentése
(7,) ha a kerneled 2.4.x: make dep
8-9 párhuzamosan is mehet
8, nohup make bzImage 1> bzImage_out 2> bzImage_err
9, nohup make modules 1> modules_out 2> modules_err
ha 8-9 hiba nélkül lement, akkor
10 make modules_install
11 cp /usr/src/kernel/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImage_uj_kernel
(12) ha hibát is akarsz keresni (debuggolni): cp /usr/src/System.map /boot/System.map_uj_kernel
13 grub megpatkolása:tedd be a grubba
ha 2.6.x-et használsz az initrd-s sor nem feltétlen szügséges.

Akkor már csak egyetlen problémám van: VmWare. Telepítés után a konfiguráláskor a következő a baja:

Elvileg minden összejött, csak azt nem tudtam UHU 1.1.1 alatt elérni, hogy a W$-os hdd-ket elérjem userként. Miért van az, hogy a rendszer az /mnt alá befűzi a hdd-ket, de azokat csak root-ként lehet elérni??? 0500 kóddal jönnek létre a csatlakozások. Ezt a jogosultságot MC-vel nem tudom átlőni, mert azt írja ki rá, hogy azért nem, mert csak olvasható fájlrendszer. Kérdés: ha ezt az NTFS fájlrendszert írhatónak állítom be a kernel konfignál, akkor ez lehetséges lesz majd? Mármint az, hogy nem csak rootként lehet használni? :? :? :? :roll: :roll: :roll:

Nem biztos, hogy a legjobb otlet. Szerintem jobb az /etc/fstab -ban az opciokhoz hozzafuzni az umask=022 -t.
