Ööööö. Beszűkült? Én nyitott vagyok az új dolgokra, most is folyamatosan új dolgokkal foglalkozom, de a Solaris pont egy döglődő platform, aminek a megismerésében nem látok lehetőséget. Kb. semmit. Te milyen lehetőségeket látsz benne, miután már az Oracle is a Linuxra megy rá inkább?

Az Oracle nem a Linuxra megy rá inkább, hanem mindkettőt támogatja. Elég erős a döglődő platformot ráfogni egy olyan oprendszerre, amiből nemrég jött ki új major verzió. :)
A Linux meg komoly felhasználásra még mindig, most is, sok év után nem tud olyan dolgokat és annyit, mint a Solaris.

Egen. Ezt hívják úgy, hogy transition. Az Itaniumot is támogatják még itt-ott, de jövője annak sincs :)

Mint az élet sok más területén, itt sem a minőség a döntő szempont.

Ez a transition-elméleted érdekes, az Oracle sajtónyilatkozatokból nem ez jön le, sokkal inkább az, hogy gyúrnak rá. Az Itaniummal kapcsolatban nem ezt hangoztatták. Sőt, a T-sorozatú szervereiket is megújították, amik ugye elsősorban Solarisszal mennek.
De ha így is lenne, ez csak a távoli jövő. Addig meg bőven érdemes tanulni, szélesíti az ember látókörét és hamar rájön, hogy a Linux még mindig mennyire wanabee-Unix sok tekintetben. :( Az, hogy _te_ értelmetlennek látod a Solarist és nem tudod mire használni, nem jelenti azt, hogy sok helyen enterprise környezetben még mindig ezt használják. Mindennek megvan a maga előnye és az adott feladathoz kell a megfelelő eszközt választani. Ami nem feltétlenül jelent Linuxot.
