Nem igazán volt olyan állítás, hogy most natívan fut-e vagy sem, de ha már ebbe belementünk... Nem olyan elvetemül állítás a mainframe és a Linux. Én nem értek ehhez, csak a Wikipedia idevágó szócikkét futottam át, de:

Magyarul - ha ez igaz - akkor a Linux nem azért nem fut a mainframe-en natívan, mert nem tud, hanem mert tök baromság lenne gazdaságosság szempontjából, ha egy OS elfoglalná az egész kávédarálót.

"IBM announced in May 2006, that over 1,700 customers run Linux on their mainframes — which is a considerable number in the mainframe market.

Annak ellenére, hogy nem szupportált, mehet arra a csodavilág (Debian, Gentoo, Slackware és CentOS) is ezek szerint. Ezek közül a Slackware-hez a Sine Nomine Associates annak idején bejelentette, hogy adna kereskedelmi támogatást. Gondolom a "nagy" igények miatt nem fordít erre az egészre nagy hangsúlyt senki. Bár ahogy megnézem a weboldalukat, a mai napig adnak kereskedelmi támogatást a Debianra.
"Sine Nomine Associates commercially supports the Debian Linux distribution for System/390 and zSeries."
Még egy szót a GNU-ról:
"At the start of IBM's involvement, Linux patches for zSeries included some object code only (OCO) modules, without source code. However, currently Linux on zSeries is completely open source under the GNU General Public License."
Ezekről mi a véleményed? Nyilván tévedhet a Wikipedia, ezért itt ezt megbeszélhetjük.
