"Megjelent" az OpenSolaris 2008.11 "final", azaz végleges kiadása. Idézőjelben a "megjelent" mert gyakorlatilag a november 21-én kiadott RC2-t adták ki véglegesként. Aki már letöltötte az RC2 filejait, annak nem kell letöltenie újra a fileokat. Részletek az opensolaris.org-on.

Ez az a rendszer, ami azert van a sun szervereken, hogy ne ok dontsek el, melyik linuxot pakolod ra, meg hogy le lehessen ellenorizni, bebootol-e?

(Arra konkretan emlekszem, hogy a 2007-es x2100 szeria nem volt kepes bebootolni a pre-installed opensolarisrol, de semmi gond, mivel termeszetesen linux szerver lett belole, ahogy annak lennie kell)

Kipróbáltam egy IBM Thinkpad R61-esen. Az első kísérletnél mindjárt a boot-nál dobott egy pánikot. A hangkártya driver-e nem az igazi. Találtam rá workaroundot. Kernel paraméternek meg kell adni a következőt:
-B disable-audiohd=true
Így bebootolt és szépen fel is telepítettem egy külön, üres disk-re. Végre kezeli az integrált broadcom hálókártyát, amit az előző release még nem. A wifi is megy gond nélkül. Feltettem a VirtualBox-ot, abba pedig egy XP-t. Nagyon meggyőző a sebessége. Első nekifutásra azt mondom, hogy nekem tetszik.

OSX Leopárd kedvelőknek van benne ZFS alapú Time Slider a la Time Machine. Micsoda fejlődés... vajon mikor lesz az OSX-ben is ZFS alapú a Time Machine?
