Position: RESEARCH ENGINEER

Salary: The annual salary for this position is between € 43,555 and € 54,457 (before tax)

Duties:
* Participate in all stages of projects carried out by the Science Group
* Perform research and development work in areas of interest
* Liaise with the RIPE community, evaluate services and identify need
* Provide support for other departments
Specific Qualifications and Experience Required:
In addition to the general qualifications that you can find on our website, we are specifically looking for someone who:
* An MSc (or equivalent) degree in an exact science subject, such as computer science, physics or mathematics
* A thorough understanding of the Internet, particularly in the areas of DNS and BGP
* Several years of experience with software development in a UNIX environment, using Perl or C
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills
* The ability to quickly understand problems and new techniques, and apply them to practical problems
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills
* Excellent command of written and spoken English
One or more of the following qualifications are desirable but not essential. Please document them in your application if they apply to you.
* Experience at an ISP, NOC or similar organisation
* Experience with project management
