Hi Gábor,
We’re excited to share a major milestone: Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd has officially been granted a MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) licence by Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.
This is a significant achievement for us, and in short, it means better protection, transparency, and long-term reliability for you.
For our customers based in Hungary, the current restrictions on crypto services will continue to apply. We'll let you know as soon as we have an update on when these restrictions may be lifted.
What is the MiCA licence and why does it matter?
The MiCA licence is the new European standard for crypto companies. It ensures licensed firms like ours follow strict rules on consumer protection, asset transparency, risk management, and operational security.
For you, that means:
Improved transparency: you’ll have clear, verified information on how your assets are managed.
Enhanced safeguards: strong safeguards for your funds and data.
Strengthened consumer protection: MiCA requires clear disclosures on risks, costs, and token governance, helping you make more informed decisions.
What's changing?
We no longer act as an intermediary for client orders with third parties. Instead, we now engage in direct transactions using our own capital and we're also an operator of our standalone trading platform (Revolut X).
The nature of your transactions with us on the main app has changed from agency-based to counterparty-based, meaning you contract directly with us when exchanging crypto.
We've updated our safeguarding arrangements to reflect the new operating model.
All changes have been (and will be in future) made in accordance with MiCA, to ensure we're always compliant with their guidelines.
What do I need to do?
You don't need to do anything for these changes to come into effect from November 25, 2025. We've attached the updated Terms & Conditions for our crypto products for your reference (some product availability may depend on your location).
We’ll be bringing more products and features, built to comply with MiCA regulation, in the coming months.
