A Beginner's Guide to Perl: Introduction

This guide is designed to fill a specific gap: there's no simple, comprehensive, straightforward introduction to the basics of Perl freely available on the 'net (that I know of.) It's really only intended to hold you over until you can purchase Randal L. Scwartz's Learning Perl (O'Reilly and Associates), which does the same thing, except about a gajillion times better.

This tutorial is not written by a Perl guru. In fact, Perl users of even intermediate experience should only read this if they'd like to check it for accuracy... Any comments, corrections, or suggestions will be warmly welcomed by the author, at scotty@bluemarble.net.

[the above comments, and the rest of the guide, were written in early 1995--but I'm still around in early 1996, and still considering finishing the guide...]
