Junior Security Engineer - Vulnerability Scanning Technology

Our services include IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and SaaS (Software as a Service). Given our customers' needs to host data within their geographies, we provide our own data center hosting capabilities within the US and the European Community, and—through IBM SoftLayer data-centers—throughout the world. We have five offices in the US, and we expanded into Hungary, Europe in 2012. We are opening offices in Mexico and Peru this year.

Task:

To identify, assess, and manage threats, vulnerabilities, and associated risks to client's information assets and resources.

  • Daily assessment of vulnerabilities identified by infrastructure scan
  • Evaluate, rate and perform risk assessments on assets
  • Prioritizing vulnerabilities discovered along with remediation timeline(s)
  • Send and receive notifications to the SMEs of vulnerabilities within the environment
  • Interaction with multiple global teams (security architecture, penetration testing, application development, Risk Officers, etc)
  • Maintain knowledge of the threat landscape
  • Provide reporting and analysis and follow up
  • Provide vulnerability analysis and produce reports for management
  • Participate collecting, assessing, and cataloging threat indicators

Expectation:

  • Knowledge of application, network and operating system security
  • Experience with vulnerability and patch assessment
  • Experience on vulnerability scanning tools
  • Knowledge of vulnerability scoring systems (CVSS/CMSS)
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills are required in order to communicate findings and status
  • Ability to clearly communicate priorities and escalation points/procedures to other team members
  • Good understanding of Windows and Linux patching
  • Dynamic scans, static scans and penetration testing
  • Security architecture experience 
  • Linux hand-on experience
  • Hands-on knowledge on load balancer
  • Development experience
  • Innovative and efficiency focused mind
  • Detail oriented, organized, methodical, follow-up skills with an analytical thought process
