Az RCS-t nem a Google fejlesztette ki hanem a GSM Association, továbbá 5G-n kötelező az implementálása:
Operators are free to decide whether or not to implement RCS within their 4G networks. However, the 5G standards mandate the implementation of RCS in 5G networks and devices.
Technikailag az iPhone nem 5G compliant amíg nem támogatja az RCS-t. A Google akár bíróságra is vihetné a dolgot, mert emiatt pl. megtévesztő 5G kompatibilisként hirdetni az iPhone-t. Szerintem csak azért nem teszi mert egyrészt drága, másrészt gondolom az Androidnak is vannak hasonló technikai hiányosságai.
Illetve az Apple állítólag implementálta az RCS támogatást, csak nem adta ki:
