Helyezhetnéd némi kontexusba a dolgot.
Az eredeti mű nem csak a technológiai fejlődésről, de a szabályozott, modernnek, haladónak beállított, sémáknak megfelelő/megfeleltető táradalmak kritkájaként is fel lehet fogni. A főszereplő, hordozza a régi dolgokat, a többi szereplő meg nem érti és hülyének nézi. Pont emiatt üt. Miről szól az egész? Illeszkedj be, légy egyforma, ne gondolkodj, éld ki ösztöneidet, és ha feszülsz dobj be egy szómát.
Ha megnézed, pont ugyanez megy szinte minden téren. Bemondanak egy ideológiát, technológiát gondolkodás nélkül előremutatónak, világmegváltónak, a régit meg tűzrevaló szemétnek. Teszik mindezt az új, egyediség álcája mögé bújva. Légy hópihe, de csak úgy mint a többi hópihe! Fogadd el a sárga, barna hópihéket, még ha vizeletesek vagy épp bélsarasok is! Ha eltérsz ettől, kilógsz a sorból, netán másképp gondolkodol, akkor primitív Vadember vagy (lásd. fasiszta)!
Néha tisztára az az érzésem, hogy valaki behajigálta egymás mellé az 1984-et, a Szép új világot, a Fahrenheit 451-et egy turmixban, és most Margarita koktél helyett azt szervírozták nekünk. Érdekes egyébként, hogy Bradbury mennyire előre látta a mai világot:
"BRADBURY: ... Even more depressing is that I foresaw political correctness 43 years ago.
PLAYBOY: In Fahrenheit 451, too?
BRADBURY: Yes. [At one point, another character,] the fire chief, describes how the minorities, one by one, shut the mouths and minds of the public, suggesting a precedent: The Jews hated Fagin and Shylock—burn them both, or at least never mention them. The blacks didn’t like Nigger Jim floating on Huck’s raft with him—burn, or at least hide, him. Women’s libbers hated Jane Austen as an awfully inconvenient woman in a dreadfully old-fashioned time—off with her head! Family-values groups detested Oscar Wilde—back in the closet, Oscar! Communists hated the bourgeoisie—shoot them! And on and on it goes. So whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I’d combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women’s lib in The Martian Chronicles,or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine."
